We know what you’re feeling now. It’s joy mixed with a little -or a lot- of apprehension. All because you finally get to cross traveling off your bucket list.

Traveling can be intimidating for people in general and as a first-time traveler you’re probably going to have all the emotions at one go. You definitely need tips for first time travelers.

Packing for your first trip does not have to be tedious. It can be fun but you need to prepare carefully. That will limit the possibility of forgetting an important item. Forgetting items will not be the end of the world but it could complicate things for you on your first travel experience.

Take a look at the checklist we have constructed below which will have you feeling composed, excited and all set to embark on a life changing experience.

How to Choose the Right Changera Card for Your Needs

Passport

This is a no brainer for several reasons. Traveling overseas is very different from traveling locally within your country. When you make the decision to leave your country for whatever reason you have to make sure you have a passport with at least a 6 month validity period available. This is the only form of identification that will allow you easy access into different countries.

You may not be allowed back into your country of origin without this document. Packing this document should be your top priority when traveling abroad. We suggest placing this in a secure location that you have easy access to. Reason being that you will be showing this document at different security checkpoints throughout your trip. People do happen to lose their passports while abroad. This is why we also advise you to carry multiple passport photos in case you are put in a situation where you need to replace your passport.

Money

Traveling to a different country will also mean having to acquire the currency used in said country to purchase items or pay for services. Having handy cash is important. However, changing the currency at a bank or even a travel exchange booth at the airport or anywhere in that country could be tedious.

That is why getting acquainted with a Changera card will make this a lot easier for you. As much as you plan and budget ahead of time for a smooth transition into a different country, your funds could run out. Instead of relying on your local bank card you should use Changera which enables you to spend globally without hassle.

For instance, the perks of using Changera when you travel are endless. From spending directly from your wallet without journeying from one Bureau de Change to another looking for the best rates. You too can travel with ease with Changera. Simply download the app on iOS or Android today. This is one of the most important tips for first time travelers.

Universal power adapter

It might be that the voltage of the power supply of the country you’re traveling to is different from the one in your home country. In that case, your universal power adapter is  essential to allow your electronic devices to function overseas.

This is a common occurrence that many people are not aware of. Oftentimes they travel with their chargers and devices expecting things to be business as usual. Carrying several adapters like people used to and still do today on your trip will be a complete waste of valuable space. This is one of the best tips for first time travelers.

You only need one Universal adapter and it may come in two parts. This will help you manage the change in power sources and reduce the risk of blowing up your electronic devices.

Documents

There are a number of documents we advise you take along with you on your trip as unexpected circumstances may arise. Without these documents mentioned, you run the risk of further complicating your travel experience.

Travel insurance: traveling without this is a huge risk that you do not want to take. Many people travel thinking nothing could go wrong and they do not need travel insurance. If something does happen, you will end up paying much more than you could imagine. It may be very difficult to receive assistance if you don’t have travel insurance.

Read through all the travel insurance documents so you thoroughly understand what is covered and how to go through with filing a claim if needed. Travel insurance could literally save your life and finances, so why take the risk?

Visa: the visa requirements vary from country to country. Owning an international passport from your country of citizenship will not guarantee access into foreign countries. Many countries require you to possess a visa which will grant you permission to enter, stay in and leave the country.

The visas have a time limit for specific purposes. Depending on the visa you applied for and have been granted, the duration of the trip must align with this. Or you run the risk of getting in serious trouble with the country you are visiting. However, since you are reading these tips for first time travelers, you are exempted from this risk.

Remember technology is not always reliable. Do not rely only on your phone or other tech devices for important information. Be sure to print copies of your important documents and keep them safely in your possession. You do not want a case where you need to provide certain information and your phone battery dies or your laptop refuses to come on.

Essential first-aid kit

Being in a different country could cause changes in your body. Moreover, accessing adequate medical attention could be challenging. Ensure to carry your own first-aid kit with medication that could help manage non life threatening illnesses or health issues. This could save you from spending unnecessary money. It could also reduce the risk of purchasing fake drugs abroad.

Being in a country where there is a language barrier can be frustrating and detrimental in certain scenarios. Many people also suffer from severe allergies and carrying your medication could be lifesaving. You do not want to rely on the healthcare system in a foreign country.

With this being said, you need to be aware of the laws placed in your destination country regarding certain over the counter medication. Some countries require you to have a doctor’s note or prescription before being allowed to bring in certain drugs into their country. Be aware that you will need to make decisions according to your own personal circumstances and laws of the country you plan to travel to.
